Turning a leading automotive YouTube channel into a stronger media business.
Content as a system, not a series of videos.
I lead content strategy, production, packaging, analytics, sponsorship and team development across the entire publishing pipeline.
The situation: When I joined High Peak Autos in 2023, the channel was already successful, but there was an opportunity to professionalise the operation and turn a series of successful videos into a scalable media business.
My approach: I work across content strategy and programming, production and post-production, title and thumbnail development, audience analytics, sponsor integration, workflow design and team development. Every upload is evaluated for audience demand, packaging strength, retention, sponsor suitability, production efficiency and long-term library value.
Formats I created: A zero-budget desk-based explainer, “The Supercar Scandal That Shocked the UK Car Market”, became the channel’s highest-performing video of the past year with 652K views and a repeatable format. “A Day in the Life of High Peak Autos” created a low-friction lifestyle format that opened the channel to sponsors beyond automotive products. CarChat brought recognised guests into a car-led interview format, beginning with Mike Brewer.
Results: The main channel grew from around 270K to 530K+ subscribers, average views per video increased by approximately 34%, and five videos a week now publish across two channels. I built scalable production and publishing systems, expanded partnerships with BetterHelp, PLAUD, Autodoc, Carly and HelloFresh, and mentored the team.
Key takeaway: Successful YouTube channels are built by treating programming, production, packaging, analytics and commercial strategy as one compounding business system.
